Maria Proestou

Maria Proestou is Chief Executive Officer of DELTA Resources, Inc. which she co-founded in 2000 in the hopes of providing differentiated support services to federal clients. Bringing 20 years of experience in the defense industry, she is one of the guiding lights of the company.

In addition to promoting DELTA’s growth and development, Proestou oversees quality control and serves as an expert on U.S. Navy strategic planning, budgeting, and program management. Throughout her professional career, Maria Proestou has been a frequent speaker on issues related to defense contracting and workplace flexibility; testifying to the importance that workplace culture plays in assuring excellence in service. In 2014, Proestou served as a keynote speaker at the Fortune Magazine “Best Places to Work” Annual Conference where she discussed Workplace Flexibility: Managing Challenges and Success. She has also been a panelist and a featured profile on Executive Leader’s Radio and in Profiles for Success. She was also proud to be invited to participate in the White House Forum on Workplace Flexibility, which kicked off the Obama administration’s workplace improvement initiatives in 2010. Additional speaking engagements have included discussions of small business contracting and women in defense issues at the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce, Northern Virginia CEO Roundtables, and the American Society of Naval Engineers (ASNE) Annual Conference. Proestou maintains an active role in the professional services industry, particularly with the Professional Services Council (PSC) where she serves on the Executive Committee as well as the Executive Advisory Board of the Defense and Intelligence Council (DIC). She also serves on the Board of Directors of the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy Women’s Alumni Network, and is active with the Women in Defense organization of the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA). For the last eight years, Proestou has served DELTA’s charitable giving mission through participation on the Fisher House Golf Classic Steering Committee; helping raise over $9 million to support wounded warriors and their families. Prior to co-founding DELTA, Proestou served as a senior program manager at DTI Associates where she was responsible for contracts with the Office of Chief of Naval Operations, the Naval Sea Systems Command, and the Program Executive Office for Integrated Warfare Systems. She managed a diverse workforce of engineers and program and financial management analysts. Proestou received her Bachelor’s degree from The George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs specializing in national security policy. She attended the Fletcher’s School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University receiving her Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy following completion of a dual-thesis in international security studies and finance.
